However, the Ramblers is much more than a walking club.  Constant vigilance is required to conserve this beauty and its associated wildlife, and to preserve the existing public rights of way.  We are active in this work, we keep a close watch on our local footpaths and encourage local authorities to keep them in good condition.  And we are on our guard against local developments that might detract from the beauty of our countryside, making formal objections where necessary.  We would be delighted if you could join us for walks or find time to help in any of our work.

MAP OF OUR AREA
Within this territory there are many footpaths, bridleways and quiet country lanes providing a network for walking in the beautiful countryside.  Of course our walks are not restricted to that area:  we walk all over Cumbria, Lancashire and the Dales as you will see from our walks programme.  With the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks and the Arnside-Silverdale and the Bowland Areas of Outstanding National Beauty (AONBs) nearby we have plenty of choice.
